A Colorful Class!

We have had a colorful time in Kindergarten!  The boys and girls participated in a lot of activities involving colors.  We read, "Brown Bear Brown Bear, What Do You See?" "Little Blue and Little Yellow," and "Mouse Paint."  We were able to find some really cool retelling activities on the Smart Board for these stories.  Children also played a dice roll math game with the animals of the Brown Bear story.  Each child was given a package of M &M's and learned how to sort and graph the different colors.  We also had a special snack using yellow and blue frosting on vanilla wafers.  When we put the cookies together- they turned green!

We Met Our 4th Grade Buddies!!!

Today the boys and girls got together with our 4th grade buddies from Mrs. Clay's class for the first time.  We assigned each kindergarten kiddo a 4th grade buddy that they will work with all year long!  We do lots of fun projects and games throughout the year with our buddy class.  The older kids are great mentors to the kindergartners.  Today we spent some time getting to know each other by completing a Venn Diagram with our buddy.  Both the 4th grader and the kindergartner answered survey questions such as; favorite color, favorite season, favorite sport, etc.  Then the kids placed these on a Venn diagram to help them see what made them each unique and what they had in common.  Your child will be bringing the Venn Diagram home to show you.  We will be meeting with our buddies again very soon as they help us get acquainted with the computer lab!
